We no longer say yes, we say ‘affirmative.’

Hello, future! Back from the great north. Back from no sunshine and unlimited spa-porrtunities to sunglasses and a day spent mopping and scrubbing the house. Both were weirdly welcome.

I’ve written before about my most successful New Years resolution- 2011′s pledge to stop cheating. It’s been two years and I still haven’t cheated in a single card, board, or other competitive game or sport. MAJOR accomplishment for me, because sorry, but I’m an awesome cheater.

I plan to continue my honest game-playing, so now it’s time for a new goal. Being on vacation (a dark, dark vacation) afforded me plenty of time to read and write. I read three books in five days, and it was delicious. My 2013 goal is to keep that up.

Obviously, inhaling books isn’t an option on non-vacational days, but I can absolutely read more than I did in 2012. Reading is a hugely relaxing thing for me, and when my brain is focused on someone else’s words, it helps me consider my own. I hope to continue being published in 2013, which means I need to keep writingwritingwriting. I also want to work on self-promoting/being more articulate around strangers because holy crap, talking to me during an introverted moment is nightmarish.

And because I know you’re wondering, Rob’s NYE resolution is to be sillier this year.

I’m super on board with that.
