This weekend I went to Barnegat Light, New Jersey. One of the long paths to the beach flooded due to an early morning thunderstorm that later became a mid-morning lightening nor’easter, that eventually settled into an afternoon rain shower.
We took a post-rain walk, and discovered the flood on our way back. Given the option to climb the dunes back to the house and risk poison ivy or trudge through the muck and mire of the stagnant canal, I chose the latter.
My right flip flop thought this was too dangerous and broke, leaving its left twin and my right sole to carry on.
Also, our surroundings looked vaguely Vietnamese, or, at least, vaguely ‘Vietnamese-sound-stage-in-Toronto.’
We were close to the end when the figure in red started telling us to watch out for Puddle Snakes. Despite our 18 year age difference, we did just that.
Thanks to my hosts for inviting me up- I had a lovely time and will forward my pfiesteria treatment bill to you upon its arrival.
