When it comes to our weekday lunch, we usually opt for a brown bag or skip it all together (smart, right?). Today we did the complete opposite. Not only did we embrace the mid-day meal, but we dropped (in our opinion) some major paper on it.
While most everyone is familiar with one of Miss Shirley’s breakfast/lunch outposts, you may not have encountered their foray into the every-s0-trendy food truck world. Color us shocked when their blueberry-pancake-emblemized truck rolled up in front of our office this afternoon. We couldn’t resist. While the menu is relatively limited-4 sandwiches ($12-$19) and 4 starters ($5 each)-we were pleased with our turkey, apple, and brie on ciabatta. But the prices. Holy shit, the prices. We would happily expect to pay $10+ a sandwich if we were actually seated in the restaurant, but to shell out $13 and be forced to dine amongst the miscreants of the Rotunda is a bit much. But alas, we are impulsive fools who think with their guts, and will most likely do business with the Miss Shirley’s Food Truck again.
